After two days of arson attacks on a Perth Police precinct the superiors are considering putting security guards in front of the station to prevent outside threats.
Reference from news.com/au I think this would be a horrible idea unless they are armed guards. For you guys that haven't done security work before they will throw security guards in the line of fire without any protection. TRUST ME! Back when I was employed by a security company I worked a synagogue during a Jewish holiday. The environment was really laid back then one of the people that ran the establishment gave me a list of what to do during a bomb threat. Thoughts running through my mind were like "I didn't sign up for this I am not armed". Police stations will have really look through these security guards background because there are a lot more lazy security guards then very active ones. So, this will be an ongoing process.
